Compassion Int’l Announces Closure of India Operations
March 01, 2017
After nearly 50 years in the country, Compassion International will close its India operations March 15. The move was triggered my government moves in February 2016 which prevented the organization from getting funds into India.
The closure will affect 147,000 children and their families.
According to Compassion, India’s policy change arises out of both a desire to decrease dependence upon foreign aid, as well as to reduce Christian influence in the predominantly Hindu country.
